Visiting Our Practice

Our practice

We understand that taking your furry friend to the vet for whatever reason can be stressful. The team at Oxenford Vet Surgery pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming to all clients and their pets. Being a small, family-owned practice means we get to know our clients well and make you feel apart of the team. We want you to feel comfortable knowing that your friend is in the best care we can offer.

  • To ensure there is adequite time to give your pet the time they deserve, bookings are essential
  • To minimize stress for your pet and others, please bring cats in a carrier and keep dogs on a leash.
  • If your dog gets a bit too excited around other dogs, let us know if advance and we can make accommodations for you.
  • If you require assistance with moving your pet, please ask one of our friendly staff members to assist.

Medications and Food

When you have run out of food or medication it can be frustrating coming down to the clinic only to be told that there is not enough left on the shelf. To avoid the stress and to save time, we ask that you call at least 24 hours in advance to ensure we can have the medication or food prepared and ready for you to collect.

 Long-Term Medications and Prescriptions

When a pet is on a long-term medication it is important that we see your pet regularly to ensure the dosage is correct, there are no side effects, and to see how they’re doing on the new medication. Once we have the dosages correct and everything is stable, we are happy to dispense medications or write prescriptions without an appointment.

BUT we still legally need to see your pet at least once every six months to show they are still under our care. More information for medications and prescriptions is found in the Australian Veterinary Assosiation Guidelines for Prescribing, Authorising and Dispensing Veterinary Medications.
